Clinical Pilates is a modification of traditional Pilates developed by physiotherapists, movement specialists and biomechanics experts for people experiencing acute or chronic pain, suffering from illness or recovering from surgery or injury. These classes taught by degree level therapists or clinicians specialising in movement dysfunction and utilise the most up to date research on movement and exercise therapy.

Many exercises are adapted for each individual person to enable correct function and control, and the clinician is able to identify incorrect muscle activity. These classes focus more on isolated muscle activity (individual muscles or group).
Sophie says that this is a Level 0/1 class and focuses on more “isolated” (1 muscle or muscle group) exercises and has a higher percentage of stretching and mobility exercises than higher level classes. She will give her clinical expertise and education to feel and understand the strengths and weaknesses in the body and how this could be contributing to pain and dysfunction. These classes will re-iterate the basics of breathing core control and positioning in each class and will allow the time to feel the exercises correctly.

Suitable for those with mobility issues, joint restriction and muscle stiffness, and are slightly fearful of movement and exercise.

Suitable for the total beginner and those who struggle with movement and the older client.
